Design – Innovate Differentiate Communicate

Tom Peters Essentials

Published by Dorling Kindersley

Whats is about:

The book focuses on design and how design should be at the heart of every business.

It advocates using passiom, emotion and attachment to transform a business and the way you work

What I thought:

The book is a nice bite-size easy to read curious half-A5 size.  Slim enough to fit into a handbag or large overcoat, you can dip in and out as you wish and you don’t have to read it in any particular order.

Peters is one of those uber-guru’s that transcends ordinary business thinking and takes it to the next level.  With chapter headings such as “the soul of the enterprise”, “beautiful systems”, “providing memorable experiences”, “embracing the dream business” and “branding from the heart”; Peters come very much from the position of utilising design at the heart of any business to create an experience, a brand, that customers need to be associated with.

With many case studies and real-life examples, it gives immense food for thought for any business whether you are a one-man band or part of a much bigger national or even international organization.

I recommend this book for anybody who is interested in discovering the passion and excitement of why they are in business and transforming their business to offer something different to the many humdrum businesses out there today.
